True Stories: A Two-Part Personal Essay Writing Workshop with Kelly Love Johnson, writer and editor (Skirt! magazine).

This intensive workshop will focus on the unique challenges of writing the personal narrative, including how to write about your own experiences objectively, conveying emotion without being melodramatic, sharing intensely personal work, and being both writer and character in your own story. The first session will include brief writing exercises, an introduction to critique, and a take-home writing assignment. The second session will consist of sharing your work and participating in workshop-style open discussion for feedback and revision.

Rosalind Franklin, The Discovery of DNA Art Exhibit

In recognition of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month the CFW is hosting an exhibit at the Smith Killian Fine Art Gallery. This exhibit celebrates the life and work of this famous biophysicist who was a major contributor to the discovery of the structure of DNA and lost her life to ovarian cancer at age 37. Clare O'Hagan and Denise Wyllie's  artworks highlight the enormity of Dr Franklin's scientific contribution through powerful artistic rendering of the double helix and DNA. 80% of sales benefit the SC Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
